Uncover the truth about blue light damage and how to protect yourself. Is this threat…
Things you may not have known about neuromodulators (Botox, Dysport, Xeomin)
This is the 1, 2, 3 and 4 things about neuromodulators (Botox, Dysport, Xeomin) you should know….
1. Results are seen within a few days
Nerves are connected to muscles and are the components responsible for muscle movement. When nerves are blocked by neuromodulators (Botox, Dysport, Xeomin), the muscle stops moving. There are 43 muscles in the face, so it’s important to see an experienced injector who can properly inject neuromodulators to smooth away wrinkles and create the appearance you desire without any weird side effects. Botox and other products alike do not make the wrinkles go away, it’s their ability to stop muscle movement that is creating the wrinkle in the first place! Science.
2. Skin becomes baby-smooth
After a few weeks, the skin becomes incredibly smooth where the injections took place. This is because the affected muscle under the skin hasn’t been able to move and wrinkle the dermis. Fine lines and wrinkles fade away with this new reduced activity and can be especially noticeable in the forehead and frown. No more looking tired or angry!
3. The more often you get treatment, the less you’ll need
Botox, Dysport and Xeomin do not have permanent results. You can expect to have smooth, wrinkle-free skin for about 3 months before they begin to slowly reappear. The chemical reaction that bonds neuromodulators to muscle cells is permanent, but the human body will begin to sprout new nerve connections to the muscle to eventually regain movement. However, over time the muscles will begin to have a slower response time due to frequent treatment. Imagine your arm is broken, and it’s in a cast for a few weeks; when the cast comes off–your arm is weak because the muscle tone has been greatly reduced because of the lack of activity. This concept applies the same to the use of neuromodulators. As the muscle gets smaller and weakens, less and less product will be needed over time as you go in for treatment.
4. Treatment can be used to modify features
Not only are neuromodulators effective for treating wrinkles, they are also used to modify particular features on the face! Treatment can be used to create a brow-lift, correct a down-turn of the mouth, and reduce the size of the masseters (the big guys in charge for grinding your teeth). Your experienced injector can also tweak your injection plan to treat asymmetry of the face.
