DARWIN PLATFORM · PEARL DISTRICT, PORTLAND
SIX TECHNOLOGIES. ONE PLATFORM.
Most clinics own one device and fit every patient to it. We invested in Darwin, a system that brings six different technologies under one roof, so your plan gets built around your skin instead of around our equipment.
Laser, light, ultrasound & radiofrequency · Hair removal for all skin types · Licensed medical providers · New Pearl District clinic
WHY IT MATTERS
THE RIGHT TOOL, NOT THE ONLY TOOL
Skin concerns rarely come one at a time. Sun damage sits next to laxity; acne scarring sits next to redness. Each of those responds to a different kind of energy, and no single technology handles all of them well.
Darwin lets us move between light, laser, ultrasound, and radiofrequency within one plan. That means the honest answer to "what would work best for me" is never limited by what we happen to own.
One consultation, every option
We assess your skin once and draw from six technologies when we build your plan.
Treatments that layer
Different modalities work at different depths, so they can be sequenced to build on each other.
Settings tuned to you
Each handpiece offers multiple modes, depths, and filters that we match to your skin type and concern.
Room to grow
The platform accepts new handpieces, so our capabilities expand without starting over.
WHAT’S INSIDE
THE SIX TECHNOLOGIES
Each one does something the others cannot. Here is what each is for and how it works.
DIODE LASER
Laser hair removal
An 808nm diode laser that works on all skin types, with a large treatment window for speed and a chilled tip that cools your skin as it treats. Three pulse modes let us balance comfort and results.
BEST FOR
Unwanted hair on the face and body
INTENSE PULSED LIGHT
IPL Photofacial
Seven light filters, from 430nm to 755nm, let us aim at specific targets: surface pigment, deeper pigment, the vessels behind rosacea and flushing, and the bacteria involved in the acne.
BEST FOR
Sun spots, redness, neven tone
RF MICRONEEDLING
Radiofrequency microneedling
Delivers radiofrequency energy through fine needles, up to 3.5mm deep, to rebuild collagen where scars and texture live. A gentle vacuum holds the skin steady for even depth, which also makes it more comfortable around the eyes and nose.
BEST FOR
Acne scarring, texture, stretch marks
FOCUSED ULTRASOUND
HIFU lifting
Focused ultrasound reaches the deep support layer of the face, the same layer a surgeon tightens in a facelift, and heats it to trigger new collagen. Three depths (1.5mm, 3.0mm, 4.5mm) let us treat fine texture or lift at the foundation. The surface of your skin is left untouched.
BEST FOR
Lifting, tightening, jawline definition
THERMAL RF
Radiofrequency tightening
Warms the deeper layers of skin uniformly while protecting the surface, prompting collagen and elastin to remodel. Two modes, one deep and intensive, one gliding and gradual, can be combined in a single session.
BEST FOR
Wrinkles, firming, overall tightening
FRACTIONAL RF
Fractional RF resurfacing
Treats microscopic columns of skin while leaving the tissue between them intact, so healing is faster than with traditional laser resurfacing. Two tip densities let us go lighter or deeper depending on your skin and your schedule.
BEST FOR
Fine lines, scars, uneven texture
FIND YOUR FIT
WHAT WE’D LIKELY REACH FOR
Your consultation decides the plan, but here is how these technologies typically line up with common concerns.
| Your concern | Technology | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Unwanted hair | Diode laser | Targets the follicle, and works across all skin types |
| Sun spots & discoloration | IPL | Light filters tuned to surface and deeper pigment |
| Redness & rosacea | IPL | Targets the small vessels behind visible redness |
| Acne scars & texture | RF microneedling or fractional RF | Rebuilds collagen at depth where scars are anchored |
| Laxity & jawline | HIFU or thermal RF | Heats deep support layers to lift and firm |
| Fine lines & crepiness | Fractional RF or HIFU | Resurfaces or stimulates collagen, depending on your skin |
STRAIGHT TALK
SKIN TONE CHANGES THE PLAN
Technology that targets pigment behaves differently on different skin. Our diode laser is designed for hair removal across all skin types, including deeper tones, because of the wavelength it uses and the cooling built into the handpiece.
IPL is different. It works by targeting pigment, so it performs best on lighter skin and carries more risk of burns or discoloration on deeper tones. When IPL isn't the right choice for you, radiofrequency treatments are, since they work by heating tissue rather than by chasing color. Having both under one roof is exactly the point.
Assessed, not assumed
We evaluate your skin type and history before choosing any device or setting.
Alternatives, not rejections
If one technology isn't safe for your skin, we have five others to work with.
Timing matters
Light-based treatments need untanned skin, so we plan your series around the seasons and your travel.
WHAT TO EXPECT
HOW WE BUILD YOUR PLAN
01
Consultation
We assess your skin type, your history, and what bothers you most, then explain which technologies apply and which don't.
02
Your Plan
We map out the order: what to treat first, what pairs well, and how much time to leave between sessions.
03
Treatment
Sessions are done in our office with cooling, numbing, or both, depending on the technology we're using.
04
Results & Maintenance
Some results show immediately, others build over months as collagen rebuilds. We schedule maintenance to hold what you've gained.
WHY STYLE AESTHETICS
EQUIPMENT IS ONLY HALF OF IT
A platform like this rewards judgment. Choosing the right modality, depth, and setting for a specific face is where results are won or lost, and it is the part no device can do for you.
Our providers are national GAIN trainers for Galderma, teaching technique and facial anatomy to other medical professionals. We brought Darwin in so that expertise has a full toolkit behind it.
Honest recommendations
With six technologies available, we have no reason to sell you the wrong one.
Combination planning
Energy treatments pair well with injectables, and we sequence them so each does its job.

QUESTIONS
DARWIN FAQ
-
It's a medical aesthetic platform that houses six different treatment technologies in one system: a diode laser, intense pulsed light, radiofrequency microneedling, focused ultrasound, thermal radiofrequency, and fractional radiofrequency. Each has its own handpiece and its own purpose.
-
Partly. One handpiece is a true laser, used for hair removal. The others use pulsed light, ultrasound, or radiofrequency energy. They work in different ways and at different depths, which is why one platform covers so much ground.
-
That depends on what bothers you and on your skin type. Pigment and redness usually point toward IPL; scars and texture toward microneedling or fractional RF; laxity toward ultrasound or thermal RF; unwanted hair toward the diode laser. Your consultation settles it.
-
Comfort varies by technology, and each has features built in to help: contact cooling on the laser, gentler pulse modes on IPL, and a vacuum that steadies the skin during microneedling. We use topical numbing where it makes sense and adjust as we go.
-
Laser hair removal and IPL have little to none, though IPL leaves treated spots darker for a week or two while they clear. Microneedling and fractional RF typically mean a few days of redness and roughness. Ultrasound and thermal RF are usually walk-in, walk-out. We'll tell you exactly what to plan for before you book.
-
Most energy-based treatments work best in a series, often three to six sessions spaced weeks apart, followed by maintenance. Lifting and tightening treatments sometimes need fewer. Your plan will spell out the number and the spacing.
-
Yes, and that's the advantage of one platform. We sequence them so each treatment has room to work, sometimes in the same visit, sometimes staged across weeks.
-
For hair removal, yes: our diode laser is designed for all skin types. For IPL, no. It targets pigment and carries more risk on deeper tones, so we'd recommend a radiofrequency-based treatment instead. We'll be direct with you about which is which.
-
Pricing depends on the technology, the treatment area, and how many sessions your plan calls for. You'll get exact pricing at your free consultation before anything is scheduled.

All treatments are performed by licensed medical providers after a skin assessment and health history review. Energy-based treatments carry risks that vary by technology and skin type, including temporary redness, swelling, warmth, bruising, temporary darkening of treated pigment, and, less commonly, blistering, burns, scarring, or changes in skin pigmentation. Not every treatment is appropriate for every patient. Individual results vary and are not guaranteed.
